The Pointer Association is the umbrella organization that oversees our many boosters. We have one Booster Director for the Arts and Athletics at PLHS. The Booster Director serves as a member of the Pointer Association Board of Directors and acts as liaison for the individual Booster Groups. The PLHSPA oversees Boosters to provide the structure needed to ensure compliance with all government, SDUSD, and CIF rules. In addition, policy and procedures are in place to provide good stewardship of donor funds.

Each booster group operates as a committee of the Pointer Association with its own elected officers. The Pointer Association provides them with an opportunity to solicit tax-deductible donations and raise funds and coordinate volunteer activities on behalf of a specific sport or activities.

Booster funds are banked in earmarked sub accounts by the PLHSPA until needed.  Funds can be spent in a variety of ways to enhance the overall student experience within that sport or activity.

Because there are some sports without a Booster Group, the PLHSPA has established a Pointer Priorities account for similar donations on behalf of students engaged in sports without a Booster group. Contributions may be made to this Athletics Booster account, with expenditures recommended by the coach and/or school Athletic Director and approved by the Booster Director. This is for all CIF-sanctioned sports played at PLHS that do not have a separate Booster Group.
